First time? Take the setup. Lucania already installed? The update is enough, and your conversations stay where they are.

4Install Ollama
We start with the engine. Ollama runs the models, on this machine or on a server.
Install Ollama from ollama.com, or have access to an Ollama server.
Install Lucania
I stay with you. The setup asks for no administrator permission.
Download and run Lucania-Setup.exe. Lucania installs for your Windows account, in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Lucania.
Connect and chat
Last step: tell Lucania where Ollama lives.
Open Settings and add an Ollama connection (the local machine or a server address), then pick a model and start writing.
Update
A new version is out? One file is enough.
Lucania-Update.exe closes Lucania if it is running, replaces the files and keeps your conversations. It refuses to run if Lucania is not installed.
Before you start
1Requirements
Not much: Windows, Ollama, and Internet for the first download.
Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit.
Ollama installed on this machine, or access to an Ollama server.
An Internet connection to download Lucania and Ollama models.
If something gets stuck
3Windows or antivirus warning
The executable is not signed yet, so Windows is wary. The file name never changes.
Windows SmartScreen or some antivirus tools may scan the executable or show a warning. A single exception in your antivirus is enough for all versions.
Old install in Program Files
If Lucania is installed in C:\Program Files\Lucania, the update does not touch it. Run the setup once: it warns you, then installs in the new location. Your conversations are kept.
To remove the old version, delete the C:\Program Files\Lucania folder. Windows asks for permission.
Do not uninstall it from Settings > Apps: the old uninstaller would also erase your conversations, which are shared with the new installation.
Start from scratch
Uninstall Lucania from Windows Settings, then run the setup again. Uninstalling also deletes your conversations.
